🏊♂️🏊♀️East District Swim Sectional Championships🏊♀️🏊♂️
The Maysville Swim Team had a great day competing at the East District Swim Sectional Meet on Saturday in Steubenville where the Men’s Team finished 6th and the Women’s Team finished 10th out of 20 teams.
🏊♂️Senior Tillman Hawk was the Sectional Champion in the Men’s 500 Yard Freestyle.
🏊♀️Freshman Leila Hawk was the Sectional Champion in the Women’s 200 Yard Freestyle and the Women’s 500 Yard Freestyle.
🏊♂️The Men’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay Team of Owen Rusnak, Elijah Mayle, Casen Hirtle and Tillman Hawk set a new school record, finishing 4th.
🏊♂️The Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Owen Rusnak, Elijah Mayle, Casen Hirtle, and Tillman Hawk finished 7th .
🏊♀️The Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay Team of Leila Hawk, Bailey Paskell, Madison Hirtle, and Grace Rush finished 9th .
Top 15 Individual Finishes Included:
🏊♂️Senior Tillman Hawk finished 1st in the 500 Yard Freestyle and 7th in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
🏊♂️Senior Casen Hirtle finished 6th in the 50 Freestyle and 8 th in the 100 Yard Freestyle.
🏊♂️Elijah Mayle finished 12th in the 200 IM.
🏊♀️Bailey Paskell finished 14th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
🏊♂️Owen Rusnak finished 6th in the 200 Freestyle and 11 th in the 100 Freestyle.
🏊♀️Leila Hawk finished 1st in the 200 Yard Freestyle and 1 st in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
Qualifying for the OHSAA District Meet are: Senior Tillman Hawk in the 200 Freestyle; 500 Freestyle, Senior Casen Hirtle in the 50 Free and 100 Free, Junior Owen Rusnak in the 200 Free, and Freshman Leila Hawk in the 200 Free and 500 Free.
In addition, the Men’s 200 Medley & 400 Free Relay Teams and the Women’s 400 Free Relay Team qualified for the District meet. The District is Friday, February 16th at Ohio University. Go Panthers! Swim fast!

🎳Maysville Bowling 🎳
The Maysville Boys Varsity Boys Bowling team won the League scratch tournament with a score of 2829. They were led by Dallas Quinn 234(632) and Jacob Miller 225(582). Conner Theisen tossed a 201(560) Matt Johnson 198(540) and Bryson Bintz 189(515).
Varsity Girls had a score of 1973 Scores were Auska Johnson 182(518) Alana Johnson 155(412) Madison Hayhurst Gill 147(394) Aaliyah Reed 131(328) and Emma Bennett 128(321).
The JV teams we’re led by Everett West 183(509) and Kenny Browning 191(501).

Congratulations to the Maysville Boys Basketball Team for defeating State Ranked Tri-Valley in the MVL Showdown between the 1st and 2nd place teams. They defeated Tri-Valley with a score of 61-56. Leading the panthers were Alex Bobb with 31 points, Gator Nichols with 17, and Jordyn Watson with 7 points and 7 rebounds. The panthers are back in action on Monday in the panther pound against Fairfield Union.

Yesterday, the Lady Panthers celebrated their seniors for their last home game in the Panther Pound. The Seniors went out with a win against the River View Black Bears. They defeated River View with a score of 49-33. Leading the lady panthers were Jerzei Blackketter with 15 points, Emily Lawson with 11 points, and Liv Shipley with 7 points. The lady panthers are back in action next Saturday at St. Clairsville for their final regular season game before tournament play begins.

Although injury riddled, Maysville was able to takedown Liberty Union 54-15 in Duel Match Play Wednesday night. The Panthers in major grind mode pulled together 6 pins to take full control of the contest on Senior Night. The program celebrated Anthony Humphrey and Kelsey Bryan for their service to the Wrestling Program, their School, and their Community.

On Friday, February 2nd, members of the French Club stayed after school to celebrate “la Chandeleur”, also known as “The day of the crêpes”. French families make crêpes on this day as they are round and golden like the sun and point to the coming of Spring. Our Maysville French family enjoyed making them, eating them and following up with a game of Carcassonne.

✨ Exploring the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt! ✨
In Mr. Powell's class, they have been delving deep into the captivating world of Ancient Egypt, unraveling its rich tapestry of culture, religion, government, and geography. This lesson took them on an journey as they explored the practice of embalming and mummification. An embalmer dressed as the God of Mummification, Anubis would prepare bodies for the soul to re-use in the afterlife.
From the intricacies of preserving the physical form to the profound spiritual significance behind it all, Mr. Powell's classroom became a gateway to understanding the reverence the ancient Egyptians held for the journey beyond life.

Mrs. McHugh's third graders recently learned how to play Mancala. It's a game that dates back to the 3rd century and is among the oldest known games still played today. Traditionally, the game is played with small stones, beans, or seeds and rows of holes or pits in the earth or a board. The objective is usually to capture the majority of the opponent's pieces. After playing several rounds, students talked about which had been more helpful - luck or strategy. It was hard to decide!
