1st Graders Explore the Human Body in the Tinker Lab!
Our curious 1st graders stepped into the Tinker Lab this week to discover how their amazing bodies work! Using everyday materials, students constructed working models of lungs to see how the nose and mouth connect and function with other organs during breathing.
They also met Sam and Sally, our life-sized human models, who will be visiting their classrooms as part of their Human Body Literacy Unit.. The excitement was real as students made connections between what they saw, built, and are reading about!
To top it all off, they had a blast playing “Roll a Skeleton,” a math game where students competed for the highest dice total to earn bones and build their very own skeletons!
Learning was hands-on, engaging, and full of discovery!

🏛️ Greek Civilization Comes Alive in 2nd Grade!
Maysville 2nd graders brought history to life during their study of Ancient Greece! Students explored Greek culture by sampling traditional foods like olives, pita chips, hummus, tzatziki, raisins, and grape juice. It was a fun and tasty way to connect history to real life! 🍇
Then, students headed to the MAC for Olympic-style games where they ran relays, long jumped, and threw shot and discus. Thank you to the Maysville High School Track Team for helping and demonstrating each event! 🏅

Maysville first graders recently wrapped up Domain 2 of the CKLA curriculum, which focused on The Human Body. Throughout this domain, students explored the major systems of the body, including the skeletal, muscular, digestive, and circulatory systems. They learned about how these systems work together to help us move, grow, and stay healthy.
To celebrate their hard work and all they’ve learned, students participated in a special end-of-domain celebration! Activities included the game of Operation, drawing life size body systems and a visit with an RN!!!
It was a wonderful way to recognize their curiosity, effort, and growth. We’re so proud of our budding scientists and can’t wait to see what they’ll discover next! 🐾
