🐾The MVL Leadership Academy Event🐾
The MVL Leadership Academy is designed to foster a sense of community and teamwork across different schools and sports teams. It brings together the top student leaders from each school to learn valuable skills in collaboration, communication, and leadership. These leaders then return to their respective schools to set an example, demonstrating what it looks like to work together effectively, support one another, and strengthen the overall sense of community within and among teams.
Over the past five weeks, our students have dug into Make Your Bed by Admiral William H. McRaven. In the book, McRaven shares ten life lessons from his Navy SEAL training that go beyond the military, focusing on principles like making small wins each morning, working together, and pushing through tough times. Through his own experiences, he shows how discipline and resilience can help us tackle challenges with a stronger outlook. Every Thursday morning from 7:00 to 8:00, they have gathered to read the book together and discuss questions about each week’s chapters.
At the event, students had the opportunity to hear from some incredible speakers. Stephanie Snyder from River View High School gave a talk called “You Can Do It,” sharing practical advice on how to be a better teammate and a stronger leader. They also heard from John Glenn High School’s Track Coach Doug Joy and his student leaders, who talked about how they are making an impact in their school and community.
We are very grateful to Scott Welker and Troy Hindel from Zemba Brothers for hosting this event.
Our Maysville ambassadors for the day were Matt Harper and Rebekah Scott. Our class representatives included senior Logan Wilhite, junior Gator Nichols, sophomore Avery Daniels, and freshman Keaton Bryan. They did an amazing job representing our school!
