🌎Building Celebration🌎 Maysville Elementary celebrated Earth Day 2023 with a day full of appreciation for the world we live in. Classes visited the science rooms to recycle♻️ pudding cups into fun GRASS HEADS, tried their hands at advertising by making creative Earth Day badges, walked throughout the campus on Nature Hikes, hosted guest readers📚, read some funny Earth jokes, and visited the MES UpCycled Art Exhibit🎨. WOW! It was a very busy day! Proud to be a panther.#PantherPride

📚Guest Readers📚 Maysville Elementary students want to thank community guest readers Connie Fink and Melissa Spring for spending the day with us. Both ladies are passionate about the environment and about instilling a love of reading in our students. These retirees shared their favorite Earth Day themed stories in our new "Reading Nooks". Thanks also to the Community Foundation for choosing Maysville Elementary as their Fall Grant Recipient. We love our new areas and look forward to adding the remaining pieces before the end of the year! Stay tuned!

National History Day State Competition Several students from Maysville High School competed and earned honors at the National History Day State Competition held Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University yesterday Eleven MHS students competed in this round of the competition - a capstone for months of historical writing and research. Students analyzed primary and secondary sources, conducted personal interviews with experts, and spent significant time in museums and archives to create their original projects in the various categories, all tied to this year’s theme of “frontiers in history.” In order to compete at this round, students had to qualify by finishing first or second at the regional contest held at Muskingum University last month. The competing students include: Sophomores, Emma Rush and Scarlet Price (group website), Arion Yost, Zach Howell (individual website), Will Stoepfel, Maya Johnson (individual documentary), Claire Heiney (individual exhibit). Juniors: Abby Fracker and Jacklynn Watts (group website), Autumn Barrows (individual website) and Tillman Hawk (individual paper). Receiving recognition on the day: Tillman Hawk won the “America’s Founding” award which included a cash prize. Sophomores Will Stoepfel and Maya Johnson both placed in the top six in the state for their individual documentaries. Junior Autumn Barrows placed fourth in the state for her website. Sophomores Emma Rush and Scarlet Price received the “Ohio Pride” award which comes with a cash prize AND the pair was recognized as the winners of the group website category. As a result of their first place finish, the group is now eligible to join the Ohio delegation and represent the state at the National History Day competition in June held at College Park Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. The NHD program reaches nearly half a million American and international students every year so to make it this far is quite a success. Congratulations to all of the Maysville students who competed and good luck to those moving on to the next round. Proud to be a panther. #PantherPride

Mrs. Dingey's 3rd grade students have been learning about immigration and recently read, Lilly and Miss Liberty-a fiction text that shares how a young girl made crowns to raise funds to construct the pedestal in which the Statue of Liberty would stand. Today, they enjoyed making their own crowns. 👑
