🐾🎶Maysville Concert Band🎶🐾
Congratulations to the High School Concert Band. They received the highest rating possible this past Saturday in OMEA State Contest. (A “I” Superior “ ) This is the fourth year in a row the band has received the superior rating at the state level. They are the only school in Muskingum County to achieve this accomplishment the last four years and only one of two groups in their OMEA district to obtain this goal as well. (OMEA district 9 is the second largest district in the state). Congratulations again the band.

First Graders Explore the Wonders of Bird Beaks in the Tinker Lab
This week, curious first graders studied the superpower of birds - they dove into the fascinating world of bird beaks!
As part of their science unit on animals and adaptations, students explored how different types of bird beaks are specially designed for the foods birds eat. With wide eyes and eager hands, the first graders were equipped with everyday tools for their investigation—tweezers, pipettes, clothespins, spoons, and tongs. Through trial, error, and plenty of laughter, they tested which "beaks" worked best for picking up seeds, sipping nectar, or tearing food apart.
Each student also crafted their own bird feeder using pine cones, peanut butter, and birdseed. These homemade feeders will hang proudly, allowing students to observe real birds up close. We can’t wait to hear about the birds that come to visit their feeders!

Kindergarten Explorers Discover the Wonders of Bird Life Cycles and Nests 🐣🪺🔍
Maysville Kindergarten students had a truly egg-citing adventure in the Tinker Lab this week as they explored the life cycles of birds and the many fascinating ways birds build their nests.
Using magnifying glasses, students became little scientists, carefully examining a variety of real nests. They discovered the clever construction techniques of different birds, including:
🪹 A robin’s nest made from mud and twigs
🐶 A wren’s nest woven with dog fur and bits of construction netting
🌳 A woodpecker’s tree cavity nest
🌿 And a tiny hummingbird nest made from moss and string
Students also took a close look at chicken eggs and marveled at the beauty of turkey and peacock feathers, gaining a better understanding of how birds grow and change throughout their life cycle.
Inspired by nature and filled with curiosity, students capped off the experience by designing and building their very own birds and nests using recycled materials. It was a perfect blend of science, creativity, and hands-on learning! Our youngest learners left the lab with a new appreciation for the beauty and ingenuity of our feathered friends.
