Dear Maysville School District Community,
It is with deep sadness that we share that one of our students, Travis Norman, an 11th-grade student at Maysville High School, passed away yesterday as a result of a car accident that took place on Saturday. Our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to Travis’ family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
During tragic moments like this, it is essential to support our students. Members of our crisis response team, which includes counselors and mental health professionals, are working to support our students and staff during this difficult time. We recognize that everyone responds to loss differently, and a student's reaction may depend on factors such as age, past experiences, and their relationship with the student. We will continue to have counselors and other staff available at school to help students cope with this loss. We encourage anyone in need of assistance to make use of these resources and prompt your children to seek help if they are struggling to cope with the situation.
In times of adversity, the strength of our community becomes so important. As a school district family, let us come together to provide support and compassion to one another. Should you require additional assistance or resources, please do not hesitate to reach out to school administrators.
Please continue to keep the Norman family and those closest to them in your thoughts as we come together as a school community to extend support to one another.
Sincerely,
Joe Daniels
