The 21st Century Cricut Club has been hard at work creating! The 5th graders in this session have made themed based nightlights, blankets, door decorations, and even gifts for staff throughout the building. They have exhibited creativity and grit with each new challenge they receive. Our next adventures include designing t-shirts and paper-art.

Mrs. Copeland’s class visited with Mrs. Hill in the Tinker Lab to read diagrams, find patterns, solve puzzles, and test their critical thinking skills. Heart based stations gave students an opportunity to use our Lego tables, geoboards, light tables, and fine motor areas.

Mythbusters - Is Spider Silk Stronger than Steel?
Maysville 3rd graders set out to investigate the tensile strength of three test materials to answer this question. Table partners built webs of cotton, string, and spaghetti. They then used stones to test the strength of each web and scales to calculate the weight that each supply held. Their conclusion - spider silk is an amazing natural material!

📚✈️ Exciting start to the immigration literature study in Mrs. Dingey's class! The class kicked off the study with a unique book tasting experience. Each student received a small suitcase packed with symbolic items like the American flag, chopsticks, a tea bag, and lace - each connecting to a book they'll explore during this unit. 🇺🇸🍵🥢 Alongside diving into diverse narratives, the class indulged in snacks from Germany, Japan, and Russia, adding a delicious touch to their cultural journey. Stay tuned for more insights as the students embark on this enriching literary adventure!

Maysville 1st graders explored the “superpowers” of bird beaks in the Tinker Lab. 🐦🦅🦆 They learned from Mystery Science that many animals have adapted and changed to meet their needs for finding food. They investigated several tools that mimic different types of beaks and tested which types of beaks worked best for the types of foods being eaten. Lots of laughs and full bird bellies are being reported!

Congratulations to the Maysville Girls Basketball Team for defeating St. Clairsville with a score of 56-28. The lady panthers were led by Emily Lawson with 12 points and Jerzei Blackketter with 10 points. Great job panthers.

The Maysville Varsity Wrestling Team competed at the MVL League Championships Saturday in New Lex. 3 Panthers brought home MVL Championship while 2 others were runners-up. The Panthers also had 2, 4th place finishers and a 5th place finisher.
🤼♂️Freshman Walker Archer avenged his earlier season loss to Sheridan’s Cash Owen in 113 pound Championship by a decision of 9-6.
🤼♂️Freshman Carter Abella squared off with the much anticipated Hunter Hinkle of New Lexington in the 120 pound Championship match. Abella secured the victory with 14-7 decision over Hinkle.
🤼♂️Freshman, State Ranked, DJ Waite met a familiar opponent in Sheridan’s Briar Stenson in the 126 pound Championship match. Waite won by tech fall to Stenson with a score of 17-2.
🤼♂️Junior, Kaleb “Dougie” Monlux met Crooksville’ Jacob Hammer in the 138 pound match for 3rd place. Monlux fell to Hammers by pin.
🤼♂️Junior, Alijuh Ridenour faced Sheridan’s Logan Householder in the 144 pound 3rd and 4th place match. Ridenour fell to Householder by a 1-0 decision.
🤼♂️Junior, State Ranked, Logan Wilhite met Sheridan’s number 3 State Ranked and 2023 4th place state placer Coltyn Reedy. Wilhite fell to Reedy by pin.
🤼♂️Freshman, Gavin Duncan faced Sheridan’s Thad Nickodym in the consolation semifinals. Duncan fell to Nickodym in sudden victory overtime by a score of 3-2. Duncan advanced to the 5th/6th place match and won by a medical default placing 5th.
🤼♂️Freshman, Kade Renner met John Glenn’s state ranked Kian Barton in the 215 pound championship match. Renner fell to Barton 3-1.
