The True Crime class at Maysville High School is currently conducting a mock trial based on an actual case from the 1990s. Students researched the case, analyzed the evidence, prepared to be attorneys, a judge, or witnesses, and learned about each role.
We are fortunate to have staff members take part in the trial as witnesses and many students serve as jury members. It is an exciting time to see students showcase what they've learned.

💡🛠️ Mrs. Merlo's Math Model and Reasoning Class 🛠️💡
Students in Mrs. Merlo's classes took on a real-world challenge—remodeling her classroom! Using the Spy, Analyze, Model routine, the students were asked to :
🎨 Plan renovations (think fresh paint, new flooring, and even a gas line!).
📊 Collect data, estimate costs, and calculate expenses.
📝 Develop a proposal supported by their findings.
👩🎨 Present their vision during a Gallery Walk to administration.
This project encouraged the students to use critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration as students:
✔️ Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
✔️ Model with mathematics.
✔️ Apply real-world skills like measuring, organizing, and representing data.
What a great way to bring real life scenarios to the classroom. Great job students.
