🐾Ohio High School Athletic Association State Swimming & Diving Championships🐾 Sophomore Leila Hawk qualified to swim the 500-yard freestyle at the OHSAA State Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday, February 20th, at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. Leila was one of two swimmers from Muskingum County who qualified to swim at the State Championships—the first in Maysville’s history. Leila finished third in her heat and 27th overall in the state, swimming her second-fastest time ever. Congratulations, Leila! You made school history and made Maysville and Muskingum County proud! Proud to be a panther. #PantherPride

Maysville Elementary 2nd Graders Explore Science & Responsibility Through Oil Spill Experiments! 🌍🛢️ Maysville 2nd graders at Maysville Elementary stepped into the shoes of real scientists as they experimented with tools used to clean up oil spills! Through hands-on exploration, students tested different methods—such as absorbent materials, skimmers, and barriers—to understand the challenges of protecting our environment after an oil spill. During the lesson, the students also learned about Cat Island, a once-thriving habitat for wildlife, which is now nearly gone due to the Gulf oil spill. This powerful discovery reminded us that we all have a responsibility to take care of our world. By thinking like scientists and problem-solvers, the 2nd graders gained a deeper understanding of how human actions impact nature—and how we can work together to make a difference. The Panthers had placers in 9 of the 14 weight classes.
