Maysville 4th graders visited the STEAM Lab to investigate how the push or pull of a force causes motion. Students studied the domino artwork of Lily Hevesh, analyzing her techniques and design tips, then applied that knowledge to construct their own domino creations. By testing pushes, observing chain reactions, and revising their designs, students explored how forces transfer energy and create motion. An engaging blend of science, engineering, and creativity-excellent work, 4th grade!

The Maysville Varsity Swim Team competed at the Southeastern Ohio Swim League Championships on Saturday, February 7, at Ohio University against 20 teams from the region, where the Women’s Team finished 5th overall, and the Men’s Team finished 10th.

🏊‍♀️Highlights:
-Junior Leila Hawk was the 200 Freestyle Champion and the 500 Freestyle Champion, setting new school records of 2:02.69 in the 200 and 5:31.49 in the 500.

-The Women’s Relay team of Madison Hirtle, Olivia Rusnak, Grace Rush, and Leila Hawk finished 6th in the 200 Medley Relay, setting a new school record of 2:19.49, and 6th in the 200 Free Relay.

-The Men’s Relay team of Evan James, Evan Becker, Caleb Camp, and Greyson Hearing finished 10th in the 200 Free Relay.

-The Men’s Relay team of Evan James, Evan Becker, Caleb Camp, and Troy Luburgh finished 6th in the 400 Free Relay.

🏊‍♀️Top 10 Individual Finishes Included:
-Junior Caleb Camp finished 10th in the 200 Freestyle and 10th in the 100 Backstroke.

-Junior Leila Hawk finished 1st in the 200 Freestyle & 1st in the 500 Freestyle.

-Junior Grace Rush finished 8th in the 200 IM and 8th in the 200 Fly.

-Sophomore Olivia Rusnak finished 9th in the 100 Backstroke.

-Freshman Evan Becker finished 7th in the 200 IM and 9th in the 100 Backstroke.

-Freshman Evan James finished 9th in the 200 Freestyle and 6th in the 500 Freestyle.

🐾The Panthers start tournament play this Saturday, February 14, when they travel to Steubenville for the East District Swim Sectional Meet.

❄️ Hello, Winter! ❄️

Our 1st graders visited the Tinker Lab to engineer their own shovel creations using a variety of materials. Students tested how push and pull motions helped their shovels pick up cotton, salt, marshmallows, and rice, making careful observations along the way. They then took their investigation a step further by using a digital scale to measure how much rice their shovel could lift. A fun and scientific way to explore engineering, motion, and measurement-great work, 1st grade!
