Maysville Elementary 1st Graders Engineer Snow Shovels in the Tinker Lab! ❄️🔧
Maysville 1st graders became young engineers in the Tinker Lab, where they designed, built, and tested their very own snow shovels! ⛄🛠️
Using the Engineering Design Process, students explored different materials to determine which ones would be the most durable and effective for shoveling. They tested their creations with a variety of "snow" materials—including rice, cotton balls, marshmallows, and salt—observing how different textures and weights affected their shovel’s performance.
This hands-on experience encouraged critical thinking, experimentation, and teamwork, helping our young engineers understand how design and materials impact real-world tools. Way to go, 1st graders—your creativity and perseverance are inspiring! 🚀✨
