Fairy Tale Trials! What a great way to use all the language arts skills: critical reading, analytical thinking and writing, speaking, and drama.
Several 4th grade students from Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Hann's classes recently participated in the trial of the Wolf in The Three Little Pigs with 4th graders from Coshocton Elementary. Maysville students acted as the defense team, defending the "Big Bad" Wolf. Coshocton's prosecution team did a great job and B.B. Wolf was found guilty!
The 5th grade students from Mrs. Dietz and Mr. Henderson's classes defended the "Evil" Queen from Snow White. They went up against the prosecution team from Riverview Elementary. Again, the prosecution team was successful and found the Evil Queen guilty.
The trials were held over Zoom. Students had a great day learning about the court system, the different sides of a trial, felonies and misdemeanors, witnesses, opening and closing statements, questioning, etc, that culminated with the trial at the end of the day.
Thanks to "Judge" Colette Smith and "Bailiff" Mary Archer from the MVESC for hosting the event!

Congratulations to the Maysville Boys Basketball team for defeating River View with a score of 71-29. The panthers were led by Gator Nichols with 26, Alex Bobb with 21, and Jordyn Watson with 12. The panthers are back in action on tomorrow at Sheridan.

Leading the lady panthers was Sophie Dennis with 9 points, Emily Lawson with 8 points, and Jerzei Blackketter with 7 points. The lady panthers are back in action on Wednesday at Crooksville.

SEOSL Championships
The Maysville Swim Team competed at the Southeastern Ohio Swim League Championships on Saturday where the Men’s Team tied for 4th place over all out of 15 teams.
🏊♂️Senior Tillman Hawk set a new school record in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
🏊♂️Senior Casen Hirtle set new school records in the 100 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Breaststroke.
🏊♂️Freshman Leila Hawk set new school records in the 200 Yard Freestyle & 500 Yard Freestyle.
🏊♂️The Men’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay Team of Owen Rusnak, Elijah Mayle, Casen Hirtle and Tillman Hawk set a new school record, finishing 3rd .
🏊♂️The Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Caleb Camp, Elijah Mayle, Casen Hirtle, and Owen Rusnak finished 6th .
Top 10 Individual Finishes Included:
Senior Tillman Hawk finished 2nd in the 500 Yard Freestyle and 7th in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
Senior Casen Hirtle finished 2nd in the 100 Yard Freestyle and 3rd in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
Elijah Mayle finished 9th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
Bailey Paskell finished 9th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
Owen Rusnak finished 5th in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
Leila Hawk finished 2nd in the 200 Yard Freestyle and 2nd in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
The OHSAA Swimming Tournament opens next Saturday with the Panthers swimming at the East District Sectional Meet at Steubenville High School.

Maysville Middle School Students are kicking off their popcorn and pretzel fundraiser! They will earn back 50% of all sales. All money earned will go into their Washington DC account. Students will receive prizes if they sell 25 bags or more. The sale starts today and will end on Friday, February 9th. All checks need to be made out to Maysville Middle School.
