Join the Middle School Swim Team! Swimmers in grades 5-8 of all skill levels are welcome. Swimmers will practice with other Muskingum county middle schoolers but compete in their own school colors. Practices start on March 6th and are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Muskingum Family YMCA. There are four swim meets in March & April also at the YMCA. Maysville Panther Swimming The MVL Swimming Championships were held Wednesday night at Coshocton, where the Panthers' Men's Team finished fourth overall, and the Women's Team finished fifth overall. Top 10 finishes included: Senior Alissa Jinkens finished 3rd in the 100-Meter Backstroke & 10th in the 100-Meter Freestyle. Senior Brooklyn Ponish finished 4th in the 200-Meter Freestyle and 4th in the 400-Meter Freestyle. Junior Tillman Hawk was the MVL Champion in the 400-Meter Freestyle, breaking the school record, and finished 6th in the 200-Meter Freestyle. Sophomore Elijah Mayle finished 4th in the 100-Meter Breaststroke & 5th in the 50-Meter Freestyle. Sophomore Bailey Paskell finished 6th in the 100-Meter Backstroke. Sophomore Owen Rusnak finished 4th in the 100-Meter Backstroke & 5th in the 200-Meter Freestyle. Sophomore Claire Heiney set a personal record in the 100-Meter Freestyle. The Panthers swim next at the SEOSL Championships at Kenyon University.

The Maysville Panther Band and Choir students participated in the OMEA district 9 Solo and Ensemble contest Saturday at Meadowbrook high school. The choir had 9 students participate in solos and received 3 “I” superior ratings and 4 “II” excellent ratings. The band students had 34 students participate in 27 events. Of the students participating in solos there were 11 “I” superior ratings and. 9 “II” excellent ratings. The groups participating in ensembles there were 2 “ I” superior ratings and 1 “II” excellent rating. Congratulations students! Maysville Elementary STEAM Four third grade classes met with Mrs. McHugh and Mrs. Hill today in the STEAM Lab to test the tensile strength of several materials. They used what they learned about the strength of a spider web to make predictions and then test their theories. Can you believe that spider silk can stretch to 2.5 times its length when tested?
